Freeze Fest

Last night, me and Adam went to BYU's Freeze Fest at the skating rink. It was free and so it was wonderful! There were so many people there looking to partake in such wonderful freeness (dang moochers!) that we had to get wrist bands to go on the ice at certain times. We got there around 9:30 but didn't get to actually skate until almost 11. Which kind of stunk..... but they had other free activities to keep us busy. Good ol' BYU. Always thinking....
We took a group picture with some random people but they haven't posted it yet on the website. So I will get it to you when I can find it. Me and Adam wore reindeer antlers. One of Adam's antlers was broken. It looked great.
We got to decorate cookies. But then I put too much frosting on mine and so it was kind of gross... but still good!

We also got some hot chocolate and drank it while we looked at all the ice skaters. Some may or may not have been kind of crazy by the way... People watching is always fun though.
While we were watching people, Josh Groban was singing his little heart out over the speakers and it compelled me to start singing. Earlier that day I had to sing for the preshow for Christmas Around the World and I was telling Adam how bad it was. He told me he thought I was a very good singer. But when I started busting out to Josh, he immediately put his hand over my mouth and told me he totally regreted that decision. It was pretty funny. I was crying from laughing so hard. He actually does think I'm a good singer (when I'm not really), I was just purposefully singing really awful to Josh.

We finally had the chance to skate and it was fun. At first they gave me 2 different sizes. Adam tried to convince me it was just my feet. But I assured him that I am not THAT messed up. I hadn't skated for a long time so I was kind of nervous at first. Especially when Adam told me I better not fall on my butt. So much pressure! But I didn't fall. Adam was good. He kind of dragged me along some of the time.
We also had a race where I was totally on my way to cream Adam when he snuck up behind for the kill. Sneaky boy. Adam then tried to teach me how to skate backwards but it was a worthless effort. But, I do know how to spin! Which I proudly showed Adam until I almost fell. Then he showed me his and it was actually better. I have no glory in anything! Also, when you guys go ice skating, does it seem like there's always that one or two guys that are really good and pass you up all the time/almost knock you over cause they're going so fast? Had a couple of those. Showoffs.

Adam promised that we would go back to work on some tricks since there were too many people. But I can deal with a lot of people there since it was freeeeeeeee. And it was fun. Let's not forget that. Free and Fun!

80's Night

Adam's ward was invited to go to Classic Skating with another ward for free. And it was 80's night. So since we were totally going crazy over our research papers, we decided to take a quick 30 minute break and go skate our hearts out.

It was really fun! It brought me back to my days as a 8 year old when I would try to imitate the figure skaters in the Olympics. It was really weird to be in the roller-skates though instead of the inline skates. Even though they were way harder to learn, they are much easier now. But the skates were free so it worked out. Adam looked pretty awesome in his 80's fohawk. And he was pretty impressive on the skating dance floor. Every time I tried to dance I almost fell. But he actually knew how to handle himself really well.

Yay for random fun times!

Come What May and Love It

"I know why there must be opposition in all things. Adversity, if handled correctly, can be a blessing in our lives. We can learn to love it. As we look for humor, seek for the eternal perspective, understand the principle of compensation, and draw near to our Heavenly Father, we can endure hardship and trial. We can say, as did my mother, 'Come what may, and love it.' Of this I testify in the name of Jesus Christ, amen."
-Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin

I am so grateful for Elder Wirthlin and his great example to me. I have always loved his talks and have grown a lot from them. Although I will miss his powerful spirit and testimony, I know that he has worked hard all his life and is now being awarded for it. I will always love and honor him.

For Thanksgiving this year, I spent it with Adam and his family. It was really fun to meet his aunts, uncles, and cousins and to just hang out with Adam.

First, I insisted that Thanksgiving is not Thanksgiving without the Macy's parade. So me and Adam woke up and made a big breakfast of french toast, scrambled eggs, bacon and juice and watched the parade together.

Then, I went with Adam and Nathan over to the park and played some football. Actually, I think I only threw it about 5 times. The rest of the time I watched the boys make plays and then climbed a tree.
Jonathan finally came and we went over to Adam's grandma's for dinner. Dinner was really good! I heard his aunts were good cooks but it was even better tasting it for myself. After dinner, we played Phase 10 with his cousins and then this other card game called Hokie 6 after dessert. Which, by the way, dessert was also delicious.

Hokie 6 was freaking intense! There were cards everywhere, children crying, yelling and screaming, and me punching Adam in the face for getting a better score. Okay. That's a little exaggerated. But it was intense and I did get really competitive with Adam. Mom, if you're reading this, it was just like Pounce but you didn't have a partner. You were all on your own out there!

After his grandma's, we went back to Adam's and played some pool and then another game with Emily, Alyson and their friend Cameron. This game also resulted in some beating down and name calling. I think I need rehab for competitiveness.
Being with his family, even though they are great, really made me miss my family and our Thanksgiving traditions. I didn't have my cousin Melanie there to have a plate eating contest and then to have a great feast later that night, we didn't go see a new movie in the movie theater with all the family after dinner and I didn't have my mom's famous rolls. Don't get me wrong, the food I had was really good and I liked it a lot. It just made me homesick. I miss my family.

I hope every one's Thanksgivings were great and you got to spend time with all your family and pass out from all the delicious food. I'm lucky cause Adam's family gave me bags of leftovers. So its still Thanksgiving for at least another week!

California Dreams

Do any of you remember that t.v. show about the teenage band called California Dreams and that kid Sly was their manager and stuff? I used to love that show. It has nothing to do with my vacation but I just thought of it as I was thinking of a title.

AAANNNNYYYYYways. California was amazing. A blast. A true incredible journey of my time. I loved it. I didn't want to come home. I wish I could have been there longer eating all of Adam's family's twinkies and Doritos and pudding. And playing his little brothers in Wii while we kicked Adam's trash at bowling and rubbed it in his face. And worked on Prop 8 and rode bikes and ate In N' Out until we wanted to vomit. And saw all the crazies in San Fransisco and the druggies in Santa Cruz while trying to gain our balance at the Mystery Spot. Oh the days of summer. How their memories teased me as I basked in the glorious sun by the pool eating popsicles. We got to do a lot of things. But mainly just enjoyed each others company while we had no worries or obligations to think about. It was so nice. It was just like summer should've been. But is not anymore now that I must be a responsible adult. I LOVED Adam's family. And I think they liked me. At least I hope they did. His dad gave me a hug when I left so that's always a good sign right? Yeah. Its in the bag man. (kidding....) His mother is one of the nicest and most caring women I've even met with impecable fashion sense. And his little brothers are just what Holli said they were going to be like, straight for the Disney Channel. I can't wait to go back. Adam's mom even gave me ideas of things we can do when we come back. So its set. And now here are some pictures to tickle your fancy.
